Dynamic Pack: Get Active Directory Forest Objects Count and List

Dynamic Pack can be used to get Forest Objects count and list from Active Directory Forest running Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

APPLIES TO

Active Directory. This is an Active Directory Dynamic Pack. You must use this Dynamic Pack against an Active Directory forest.

TYPE

List and Count Dynamic Pack. This is a List and Count Dynamic Pack type. The data output for Dynamic Pack is stored in a CSV file for each list items.

List Items

Dynamic Pack includes following list items:

  • Get Domain List
  • Get Application Partition List
  • Get Site List
  • Get Global Catalog Server List
  • Get Domain Controller List

List Items data is stored in "List CSV" variable. Please check Report section.

Count Items

Dynamic Pack includes following count items:

  • Get Domain Count
  • Get Application Partition Count
  • Get Site Count
  • Get Global Catalog Server Count
  • Get Domain Controller Count

Count Items data is stored in "$VarRepFile" variable. Please check Report section.

Note: You can use Dynamic Pack Manager to add more List and Count Items to Dynamic Pack.

SUPPORT CONFIGURATION COMPARISON ?

Yes. Each list and count items support configuration comparison. To use this Dynamic Pack to compare target system data, create required Health Sets using DynamicPacks Health Profiler and then apply Health Sets to each Dynamic Pack List or Count items. For example, you can create a Health Set named "Global Catalog Server Count Health Set" and apply Health Set to "Get Global Catalog Server Count" Count Item.

Note: Health Sets can be created for each List and Count Items.

CAN SCHEDULE DATA COLLECTION AND CONFIGURATION COMPARISON ?

Yes. Dynamic Pack must be part of a Health Profile in order to schedule data collection and configuration comparison.

CAN MODIFY DYNAMIC PACK PowerShell Code?

Yes. Modify Dynamic Pack code using Dynamic Pack Manager that ships with DynamicPacks Health Profiler. Please make sure to use $VarRepFile reporting variable to store "Count Items" data and appropriate List Variables to store "List Items data".

DYNAMIC PACK CONFIGURATION

Input is the list of count or list items to get. Please click on Dynamic Pack under Dynamic Pack Configuration tab to configure Dynamic Pack as shown in the screenshot below:

Active Directory Dynamic Pack Configuration for each Dynamic Pack in a Health Profile

As shown in the screenshot above, enter "Yes" to execute List/Count Item and "No" to disregard List/Count execution as part of the Health Profile or Dynamic Pack execution.

POWERSHELL CMDLETS USED BY DYNAMIC PACK

Dynamic Pack uses Get-ADForest Active Directory PowerShell cmdlet to collect information for each Count and List items. Please use Dynamic Pack Manager to see the PowerShell cmdlet code used by each List and Count items.

REPORT FORMAT: HTML, CSV and Treeview

Dynamic Pack report is generated in HTML, CSV and Treeview formats.

  • HTML data for Dynamic Pack is included in the Health Profile report.
  • Dynamic Pack CSV data for each List items is available for easy navigation of data in Data Grid view and Treeview.

Report for Count Items is shown in the Health Profile HTML report as shown in the screenshot below

Generate Treeview of Get Active Directory Forest Objects and Count Dynamic Pack
